There currently are no NHE ECI job openings for U.S. affiliate locations. Due to the size of the Shandong Project, we will be focusing our efforts exclusively on the development of this particular geographical region.
ECI Affiliate Information (U.S. Only)
Exercise Course Instructors (ECIs) have two job responsibilities; teach the NHE Exercise Course and administer the practical exam for the level one NHE Personal Trainer Certification Program. The NHE Exercise Course contains over 250 exercises relating to resistance, cardio, strength, core development, flexibility and sports specific training. The exercise course is the first to be administered, of the three major elements of the level one NHE Personal Trainer Certification Program (exercise course, online exam and practical exam). The purpose of the practical exam, which is solely the responsibility of the ECI, is to ascertain the knowledge level of each student's applied kinesiology, bio mechanics, theoretical application, equipment familiarity and other essential professional components. The practical exam is scheduled after the student has completed his/her online exam. The online exam is proctored by an NHE affiliate supervisor. The administration of both the exercise course and the practical exam is executed on a one-on-one basis.
Student acquisition is derived from affiliate sales, which may include affiliate memberships. Affiliate sales are the responsibility of the assigned affiliate sales team (sales manager and sales representatives). ECIs are not involved in the acquisition of students including marketing or networking. ECIs do not sell products or services of any kind.
In terms of affiliate locations, much depends on each candidate's specific region and desired time commitment. Regions are assigned utilizing three different distance parameters, comprised of three divisional tiers. A tier one is any commute within a 45-minute drive of the ECI's residence. These particular affiliate locations (FCA-Fitness Center Affiliate, WCA-Wellness Center Affiliate) would constitute the daily commute. A Tier two is any commute within a 2-hour drive of the ECI's residence. It is optional and if agreed to, would be a once a week commitment. A Tier three is a three-day trip, by air, to an adjacent NHE region within a specific U.S. geographical region. All tier 3 locations are optional and are a once a month commitment. T2s and T3s are reserved options for full time employees only. Each is offered to help expand an ECI's teaching experience. ECI compensation is not effected, one way or another, as it relates to a T2 or T3 participation level.
Once hired, the job training program would be scheduled. All NHE job training programs are online. This eliminates traveling requirements and, consequently, expenses incurred. For this particular position, the web-based job training program typically goes very smoothly because of each candidate's familiarity with exercise science or exercise program development. For this reason, the training program predominately focuses on administrative protocols for the practical exam and the procedures relating to the exercise course instructor's manual. The program's passwords, login IDs and navigation instructions are assigned during the FTC (Final Tier Consultation). As posted on our career board, the FTC is a video conference that would involve each candidate, the NAPD (National Affiliate Program Director) and an associated RM (Regional Manager). The FTC would be roughly an hour in duration and would be the first person-to-person management meeting. During the FTC, all job particulars are addressed and finalized. Candidates are also offered an opportunity to shadow a same title holder, for one business day, prior to the official start date.
As an NHE Exercise Course Instructor, you will help develop and enhance the knowledge base of each student, in terms of exercise program development and prescription. Helping develop the necessary skills for conducting flexibility and strength tests; developing personalized strength, conditioning and weight loss exercise programs and exercise/cardio equipment consultations. Lastly, your responsibility as an NHE Exercise Course Instructor, will be to test the effectiveness of the exercise course by administering the NHE PT level 1 certification practical exam and exercise IQ test.
Exercise classes are 60 minutes in length. Instruction is based on the NHE Exercise Course Instructor's Manual. The NHE Practical Exam has no time allotment, however, the average administration time is 60-90 minutes. Both the instruction of the exercise course and the administration of the practical exam are conducted on a one-on-one basis, at an authorized FCA (Fitness Center Affiliate) or WCA (Wellness Center Affiliate).
Full-time or Part-time. (Weekly schedules are determined in accordance to the availability of the job holder. There are no specific, predetermined work hours. Work schedules are instituted on an individual basis.) Each new hire is given a schedule that correlates with his/her availability. In other words, there are no pre-set work schedules to adhere to. Once an agreeable schedule is determined, one that satisfies both the work load commitment (i.e. full time or part time) and the operational hours of the associated affiliate location, the implemented work schedule becomes the program schedule for the applicable affiliate location(s) [i.e. FCA or WCA]. Daily work schedules must be between 6 am and 7 pm Monday through Friday and/or between 6 am and 2 pm on Saturdays. Saturdays are not required, they are optional.
